Is there anything wrong with loving japan?

Hey guys. I'm a HUGE fan of japan (go japan!) and I really like well.. nearly everything about it. I like to do projects on it and I like to speak in japanese to improve my fluency but lately people are saying I'm going overboard and that I should just give up. They start calling me names like jap freak and all that.
