How can I help these sores on my dog?

Yesterday I suddenly acquired an ailing relatives dog, and the poor dog was terribly matted. I took her to the groomers today and they shaved all the mats off, but they left awful looking sores. Is there any salve or ointment I can put on them to soothe them for her?
