Does a Newfoundland puppy need a "summer" haircut!?

My Newfoundland hates being outside because it's Hott!!! We have a pool and he likes that but if we just go outside to potty he hates it & gets really Hot! I was wondering if a Groomer could give him a haircut or if their coat is a warmering & cooling system for them?
