My dog had a flea bath, so would 2 days be enough time before applying flea medicine down his back?

The groomers gave a flea and tick bath when I had him groomed. How long after should I wait to apply the flea medicine down his back. I don't want to apply too soon, but I also want to make sure he is protected against fleas.
